Ground Transportation

If you are flying to one of our nearby airports, you will need ground transportation to Fairfield.

Though it's possible to hire a driver to pick you up and take you back to the airport, you may find it exceeds the cost of renting a car for the duration. Having a car once you are in Fairfield may make it much easier for you as you will not need to spend time coordinating ride shares.

Ride shares are a good way to keep ground transportation costs down. Please go to our ride share page and enter your arrival details. Then visit that page frequently to find others you might be able to share a ride with. We ask that you arrange this among yourselves.

Rental cars

On 6/19/2023 we checked the cost of renting a car listed on Kayak.com

...Cedar Rapids, and the lowest quote 5 days is $240.00 (taxes included). That's without their insurance.

It is also worthwhile checking with autoslash.com , which offers a free on-line service that helps folks find better car rental rates. They can be better-priced for some airports and less competitive for others.

Shuttles
If you prefer to hire a shuttle instead of renting a car, here a shuttle services and the current costs per person one-way. If you decide to hire a drivers, call in advance to reserve their time.

We recommend that you ask your driver if s/he is picking up anyone else so that you can choose whether to wait for that person or not. Rates below are as of June 2023. (Again, you should be able to rent a car for your entire stay for not much more than the cost of round-trip shuttle service.)
